Practice Area

Anyone in England can register with a GP Surgery.  It's free to register and you do not need proof of address or immigration status, ID or an NHS Number.

We are open to registrations for patients that live in our Practice area.  The white shaded area on the map to the left represents our Practice area.  It covers approximately 80 square miles, bordered to the East by the River Yare extending west to Stoke Holy Cross, North to Trowse and South to Woodton. It includes the villages of The Framinghams, Brooke, Poringland, Kirstead, Stoke Holy Cross, Rockland St Mary, Surlingham and Bramerton.

The Poringland Surgery is situated in the village next to Budgens supermarket on the Norwich to Bungay Road (B1332).

The Rockland St Mary Surgery is opposite the Post Office on the main street.

In January 2015, NHS England established a scheme where Practices could decide if they wished to accept the registration of patients living outside their designated Practice area.  This was a voluntary scheme and at their discretion.  It meant that those Practices which participated in the scheme were under no obligation to provide some services (such as home visits) to patients living outside their designated Practice area.

The Partners at Heathgate Medical Practice chose note to join the scheme but instead to focus on services provided to patients within our growing catchment (registration) area. 

If you are registered with us and move out of our Practice area, we would ask you to re-register with a GP Practice nearer to your home.  This is appropriate for a number of reasons including arranging referrals and investigations.  If this does not happen and we become aware of your new address, we will write to you asking you to re-register.  We are happy to provide an additional months repeat medication to ensure there is no break in this whilst you complete your registration formalities.  Our policy on out of area patients and re-registering is here. 

Most medical records are now electronic and so can be transferred very easily to the new Practice you register with.
