Text messaging services

We use text messaging at times to communicate with our patients.  We use verified mobile numbers to facilitate such.

To avoid patients forgetting or missing their appointments, we can send confirmation and reminders about appointments by text.  We may also send a text providing a secure link for patients to send us a photograph to support a telephone consultation.  The photograph we receive will be saved into your medical record to support any clinical decisions made.

We send group text messages to share information about our services.  For example, we may flag by text the date of a community flu clinic or where there may be restrictions on services, say due to bad weather.  We also send specific messages as necessary, including reminders when regular blood test monitoring is due or overdue.

We can send extracts from patients medical records, blood test results, patient information leaflets or links to websites to support patients well-being.

NHS National Screening Programmes also use our data base of mobile numbers to communicate when attendance is due.

If you would rather not receive communication by text, please tell us and we will mark the necessary dissent on your medical record.
