GP Training at Heathgate

Heathgate Medical Practice has been an approved training Practice for over 25 years.  This means that doctors who wish to work in General Practice spend time training in a surgery environment to gain the experience and qualifications they need to become a GP.

The Trainees may be doctors who have been working in hospital medicine for a number of years in a particular speciality and are looking for a change, or doctors that have completed their core Foundation doctor training in a hospital and have always looked to become a GP.

Dr Tony Ames and Dr Daniel Wallace are our two qualified GP Trainers who mentor and support the teaching of the doctors in training.  You may well be offered an appointment with one of the doctors who are training with us.  Their clinics are reviewed by our GPs with daily briefing and de-briefing sessions.

You may be asked your written consent for the GP Trainees to record your consultation so they can reflect back on their consultation skills.  There are strict guidelines around the storage of such recordings.

Thank you for your support in training the GPs of tomorrow.
