Routine booked appointments 

We operate an appointment system where routine appointments to see the doctors and nurses can be booked up to six weeks in advance. This extended period is a direct result of patient feedback from one of our Practice surveys.  These appointments are 10 minutes in length. Not all the doctors and nurses are in surgery every day and our reception team will be able to advise which clinicians are working when and at which of our two locations.

Routine appointments can be booked by visiting the surgery, telephoning our reception team or using our on line booking service (see below).

If you feel there is the need for a longer consultation, perhaps for a number of health issues, please book a double appointment with the clinician you are seeing.

Phlebotomy (blood clinic) appointments are 5 minutes long.  These appointments simply see the nurse take a sample of blood that is required by a clinician for clinical investigation or required for an annual review of a long term condition such as diabetes or heart failure.

Our telephone lines can become very busy in the mornings and less so in the afternoon - perhaps calling then for a routine appointment may mean getting through quicker.

On line booking of routine appointments

Patients can now book routine appointments on line using Systmonline.  You will require a user name and password to access this (the same ones as those used for ordering repeat prescriptions on line).  If you do not have a user name and password please bring some photographic identification to the surgery and we will be happy to set this up for you.

App for iphones

We are also now please to announce that systmonline, the service by which repeat prescriptions can be ordered or appointments booked and cancelled is available as an app for iphones, ipads and other Apple devices running the iOS operating system.  The app is listed on the app store and is free to download.  Simply search for SystmOnline (Please note the spelling of systm and it is all one word) in the app store.

The same log in details that are used for the web site services should be used to log in once the app is downloaded.

Same day (urgent) appointments

In addition to our routine bookable appointments, there are same day appointments available for patients requiring urgent medical attention. These can only be booked on the day by telephoning the surgery.

Our reception team will ask patients about their need that day and talk to patients about the most appropriate way to meet this.  They are not clinicians and so will not be offering clinical advice but all of our front line team have received both in house and external training funded by NHS England to support staff with their signposting of patients to the appropriate service.

Patients may subsequently be assessed by our nurse practitioner who will provide advice, medication or refer you to the doctor as appropriate.  A limited number of same day appointments are also available with the on call doctor.

Cancellations (Appointments no longer required)

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to allocate the appointment to someone else.  If you have access to our full range of on line services, appointments can be cancelled on line.
