Routine booked appointments

We operate an appointment system where routine appointments to see our healthcare team can be booked up to four weeks in advance.  These appointments will vary in length based on the reason for attendance.  Not all the doctors and nurses are in surgery every day and our reception team will be able to advise which clinicians are working when, and at which of our two locations.

Routine appointments can be booked by visiting the surgery, telephoning our reception team or using our on line booking service.  Our telephone lines can become very busy in the mornings and so calling in the afternoon may see you reaching us quicker.

Patients have the choice of their routine appointments with the GPs as face to face (in person), by telephone or video consultations.  This choice is offered at the point of booking.

We are able to confirm your appointment by text message to your mobile phone.

On line booking of routine appointments

Patients can book routine appointments on line using SystmOne online or via the NHS App.  To activate the online booking service, we will need to see photographic ID in person.

Same day need (urgent) appointments

In addition to our routine bookable appointments, we offer same day need appointments for patients requiring medical attention that day.

Our reception team will ask patients about their need for that day and talk to them about the most appropriate way to meet this.  They are not clinicians and so will not be offering clinical advice but all of our front line team have received both in house and external training funded by NHS England to support staff with their signposting of patients to the appropriate service.  This may be with us in Practice or for example at a local pharmacy.

Patients may be offered a face to face appointment with our nurse practitioner who will provide advice, medication or refer you to the doctor as necessary.

Otherwise, patients will be added to a same day contact list (sometimes referred to as a triage list) where a member of our clinical team will make contact that day on an agreed telephone number and agree a plan.  This may be via the telephone that day, booking ahead into an appointment or asking the patient to attend the surgery that day.

Online consultations

We also offer a direct online consultation.  For details of this service, please see the 'Online Services' tab above.  Password access is not required for this type of consultation.
